Sump Pump

Sump pump repair and installation in Charlotte

Keep your basement and crawlspace dry. Repair, replacement, and new installs. Emergency response when the pump dies in the middle of a storm.

The Problem

Is this happening to you?

Your sump pump isn't running. Water is pooling in the basement. The pump is buzzing and nothing is happening. A sump pump failure during a Charlotte thunderstorm can put an inch of water on a finished basement floor in an hour. The fix is cheap. The flood damage is not.

Our Process

How we handle it

  1. Diagnose the failure

Motor, float switch, check valve, discharge line, or wiring. We test each piece to find the real problem.

  2. Repair vs. replace

A stuck float is a repair. A dead motor in a seven-year-old pump is a replacement. We give you the honest call.

  3. Flat-rate quote

Upfront number before work starts. Battery backup and check valve upgrades quoted separately so you can pick.

  4. Install and tie in

Size the pump to the pit, install a proper check valve, extend discharge line where needed, tie in a backup if you are adding one.

  5. Test under load

Fill the pit, watch the pump cycle, confirm the water goes where it should and the check valve holds.

  6. Walkthrough

We show you how to test the pump twice a year so you never discover it is dead during a storm.

  • We size the pump right
A pump that is too small burns out. A pump that is too big short-cycles. We pick based on your pit and your inflow rate.
  • Battery backup available
Charlotte storms take power out. A backup pump runs the sump for hours without the grid. We install and maintain them.
  • Check valve upgrade
A quiet silent check valve stops the hammer noise and keeps water from flowing back. Worth the small upgrade.
  • Emergency response
If the pump dies mid-storm, call. We treat it like an emergency because it is one.

Questions, Answered

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my sump pump is failing?
It runs constantly when the pit is not full, it hums but does not move water, it short-cycles on and off, or the pit fills and the pump never kicks on. Any of those are signs to have it looked at before the next heavy rain.
How long do sump pumps last?
Seven to 10 years for a quality pump with normal use. Cheap plastic pumps often fail in three to five years. We recommend cast iron motor housings for longer life.
Should I get a battery backup sump pump?
If your basement is finished or stores anything valuable, yes. Charlotte storms take power out and flood sumps at the same time. A battery backup pays for itself the one time it saves you.
How often should I test my sump pump?
Once in the spring and once in the fall. Pour a bucket of water into the pit, confirm the float rises, the pump kicks on, and the water evacuates through the discharge line.
Why is my sump pump running constantly?
Stuck float, undersized pump, or a broken check valve that lets water flow back into the pit. Could also be a cracked pit taking on ground water. We diagnose all of the above.
Can you install a sump pump where there is not one?
Yes. Basement wet spots, crawlspace water problems, and new basement finishes often need a new pit and pump. We size and install based on how much water the space actually takes on.
