Plumber in Matthews, NC

Mature Matthews neighborhoods mean mature plumbing. We specialize in sewer camera inspections, root intrusion, and older home repipes. Owner answers the phone.

Why Matthews homeowners choose Rideout

Matthews is a mature suburb, and the plumbing problems we see here match that. Big lots, established tree canopies, and a lot of housing stock from the 1960s through the 1990s. The roots from those beautiful oaks and pines do not stop at the driveway. They find sewer laterals, water services, and irrigation lines, and they win eventually if nothing is done.

The most common Matthews call we take is a slow drain or a full sewer backup, and almost every time the root cause is either root intrusion into a clay sewer lateral or a belly in an older cast iron line. We lead with a camera inspection so you are not guessing. Once we see what is actually going on, we can recommend jetting, a spot repair at a specific break, or a trenchless liner for a long run that would otherwise tear up your landscaping.

Matthews also has a strong pocket of high-end homes toward Weddington Road and the Providence corridor. Those tend to be newer builds with tankless water heaters, recirculation loops, water filtration, and nicer fixtures that need someone who knows how to rebuild a cartridge instead of replacing the whole faucet. We handle that kind of service work in Matthews every week.

Rideout Plumbing has been in the Charlotte metro since 1981, and Matthews has always been a core part of our territory. Chason Rideout, the owner, is a Marine veteran and the second-generation operator. The trucks you see are ours, not a national franchise.

What Matthews customers say

"Quick turnaround on a kitchen drain issue. I called, they came out the same afternoon, diagnosed it, and had the whole job done the next day. Fair price, clean work."

Matthews plumbing FAQ

My Matthews neighborhood has huge oak trees. Is that why my drains keep backing up?
Almost certainly. Matthews has some of the most mature tree canopy in the Charlotte metro. Tree roots find even hairline cracks in older clay and cast iron sewer laterals and then grow into a full blockage over a few seasons. We run a video camera first, confirm where the roots are coming in, and then hydro jet, spot repair, or line the pipe based on what the footage actually shows.
We are in an older ranch home off Sam Newell or Fullwood. What plumbing issues do you see most?
In the older Matthews neighborhoods, the big three are aging cast iron drain stacks, corroded galvanized branch lines, and sewer laterals with root intrusion. We also replace a lot of 30 to 40 year old water heaters and pressure-reducing valves in that part of town.
Do you work on high-end homes in the Matthews and Weddington corridor?
Yes. Higher-end homes in that corridor usually have tankless water heaters, recirculation pumps, whole-house water filtration, and more sophisticated fixtures. We handle the service and maintenance on all of it, and we will respect the finishes in the home: shoe covers, drop cloths, clean work area when we leave.
How quickly can you respond to a Matthews emergency?
We run trucks in and out of Matthews every day. Most emergency calls get same-day service, and off-hours calls are answered by Chason, the owner, directly.
