Plumber in Davidson, NC

Historic Davidson homes deserve careful hands. We specialize in sewer line repair, water service replacement, and repipes for century-old housing stock.

Why Davidson homeowners choose Rideout

Davidson is unique in the Charlotte metro. It is a college town built around Davidson College, with a preserved historic core that goes back to the 1800s and a ring of mid-century and newer neighborhoods that have grown up around it. The plumbing work we do in Davidson reflects that layering: a lot of older homes with original everything, surrounded by newer stock that hit its wear-out phase around the same time.

In the historic Davidson neighborhoods off Main Street and around the college, we see galvanized supply lines, cast iron drain stacks, clay sewer laterals, and in some cases lead service lines from the street that should be replaced. We do a lot of water service replacements in this part of town, swapping aging galvanized or polybutylene mains for new copper or PEX. We also do full repipes where the interior supply is beyond patchwork.

The mature tree canopy in Davidson is gorgeous and also the single biggest cause of sewer line problems we deal with here. Roots find every seam and hairline crack in older laterals. We lead with a camera inspection so you see what we are seeing, then match the repair to the actual problem: jetting, spot repair, or trenchless lining that preserves your yard.

Rideout Plumbing has been in business since 1981. Chason Rideout, the owner, is a Marine Corps veteran running the company his dad Eldridge started. Davidson customers tend to stay with us because we treat historic homes like they deserve to be treated, not like a template job.

What Davidson customers say

"Courteous, on time, and meticulous. The tech walked me through the whole job, explained my options, and left the work area cleaner than he found it. Exactly what you hope for and rarely get from a trade."

Davidson plumbing FAQ

My Davidson home is close to 100 years old. Is the original plumbing still safe to use?
Davidson has a lot of historic homes near the college and along Main Street with original galvanized supply, cast iron drains, and in some cases lead service lines from the street. Galvanized fails from the inside, cast iron cracks and rots at the bottom of the pipe, and lead is a health concern any way you slice it. We can inspect what you have and give you a real repair roadmap instead of a sales pitch.
The oaks in my Davidson yard are beautiful but my sewer keeps backing up. What can you do?
Mature tree canopies in Davidson push roots into older clay and cast iron sewer laterals constantly. We run a camera down the line first so we know where the intrusion is happening, then either hydro jet and treat, do a spot repair, or line the pipe trenchlessly so we do not have to take out your landscaping.
Can you replace a water main from the meter to the house on a Davidson property?
Yes. Water service replacement is a regular job for us in the older Davidson neighborhoods where the original galvanized or polybutylene service is failing. We pull the Mecklenburg or Iredell permit, coordinate any utility locates, and install a new copper or PEX service line.
How fast can you reach Davidson for a plumbing emergency?
Davidson is a quick run up I-77 from Charlotte, and we are also working in Cornelius and Huntersville daily, so a truck is usually nearby. Most emergency calls get same-day service, and the owner answers after-hours calls directly.
